UPDATED 15th SEPTEMBER

There's still time to join our Thames and Totally Thames Festival Project - a project to photograph the Thames in all its aspects during the month of September, whether as part of the Totally Thames Festival or on your own.  All aspects of the Thames are invited from people using the river for relaxation, for sport, working on or longside the river, taking part in sports, festivals, charity events and more.  You can include riverscapes, cityscapes and wildlife too...as long as your pictures are on or very near the River..

Like the recent Street Project, we are running the project in three parts:

  • Phase 1:               Photography (during the last week of August throughout September and ending with a London Midweek Explorers event on 2nd October 2019)
  • Phase 2:               Finding Venue and Selection for Exhibition (date to be confirmed).
  • Phase 3:               The Exhibition itself.

As I update this on 15th September, some walks and visits to events, which are part of the TotallyThames Festival have already taken place but there are still opportunities to join in either with the RPS events listed below or with the many more listed on the TotallyThames Festival Website.  Why not put together an event with friends and fellow photographers yourself?

RPS-led events still to come include:

24th September. A Photoshoot along the Thames at Greenwich.

26th September.  Exploring the Thames from Barnes Bridge to Strand-on-the-Green and after lunch visit the Rivers of the World Retrospective at the Watermans Arts Centre.

29th September.  London,Naturally will be joining in the river Theme with their September walk will take you on an exploration of the Thames Path to the River Darent.

2nd October.  A repeat of the 16th September walk from Rotherhithe to London Bridge

Don't miss the closing of the Thames Barrier on Sunday morning 29th as tthe Thames Barrier is tested and will become non-tidal for a few hours.  For the first time this year, the Authiorities are allowing canoeing, paddle-boarding and other events to take place from 8.00am on that day when, for a few hours, no other river traffic movements will be permitted.

To help with your planning, here are two links:

  • The Totally Thames website here with full listing of events currently planned (some FREE, some Paying)
  • A link to a Thames Path planning map showing both North and South Banks of the River.  (Don’t worry, the path can be reduced to smaller “bite-sized” pieces!)

Sign up on this page to join the project.  You don't have to join the project to take part in our activities listed above, but for your work to be included in our Exhibition, you must sign up!

Here is a link to the dropbox where a few project members have uploaded pictures for discussion and sharing.  Here

We already have nearly 30 people signed up but we can take more - so why not sign up now but clicking the blue button above.
