Security Scanning

security scanning

A passive terahertz security system sees a concealed weapon carried by a person as they pass through a Government building. A suspect object, possibly a firearm, is seen in white. Passive screening involves no emission of any harmful electromagnetic radiation, it relies solely on the terahertz frequency light being given off naturally by the subject. The resolution of the system is designed to give good identification of the shape of metals, explosives and gels while preserving the dignity of the subject. Passive terahertz systems allow for a safe stand-off distance of up to 15 metres and make system concealment simple compared with active imaging systems such as X-ray or microwave units. The image here was generated by the ThruVision system made by Digital Barriers.
