Field trip to Bideford area

27 May 2019

Region: South West

Tim Sanders arranged a day primarily to see the exhibition held at The Burton Gallery, Bideford, of James Ravillious work, much unseen and now being digitised and reprinted. There was some excellent work telling the stories from around North Devon.

A walk around parts of Bideford where there was a very large motor cycle show and then we headed for Appledore, again this was very busy with parking at a premium, but the 8 who attended all managed to park. The reason for being so busy was that they were holding gig racing, which looks very hard on the back. We walked through the narrow streets of Appledore, ending up at The Beaver Inn for a very nice lunch. After this we had a wander through the small town, and the very narrow streets and then some of our group took to tasting the highly recommended  Hockings Ice Cream.

We then headed off to Westward Ho, again very busy with holiday makers, the allegedly haunted house captured some space on some memory cards, and in Martin Howse case, a few on film. A wander along the sea front, taking tea along the way before heading back to cars for a homeward trip after a long but very good day.

Some images from the day can be seen below.
